Mar. 19/09 Per. D 9 Math

We started today's class by looking at a math problem related to the game Mastermind. Our goal was to answer the 4 key questions when solving any math problem:
  1. What is the problem? Do we understand what is being asked?
  2. What is the strategy? Do we have a plan?
  3. How will the plan be carried out? What are the steps?
  4. Look back: did the strategy work? What did I learn, how could it improve?
We talked about those 4 questions with the simplest example of 2 colored pegs (see game for details) and tomorrow I hope to draw out a little more of these steps in the more complicated versions of the game. Everyone was asked to hand in an exit slip summarizing the 4 questions for the first example. More will be talked about later.

The link for Mastermind game is here.

Following that we tried to decide what day to have our unit test. The poll is below.
