Today we started the class by reading a short portion out of a book called The Drunkard's Walk: How Randomness Rules Our Lives by Leonard Mlodinow. Following that we looked at a problem dealing with the total number of possible outfits a person can have if they have 2 hats, 3 tops and 3 bottoms.
We used this problem to introduce the concept of tree diagrams to solve problems of this nature.
After tackling this problem as a class, we moved on to individual work, solving problems of this sort using tree diagrams. For the rest of the notes and examples click here . There are also several problems that were not in the sheets in class in these notes.
Homework for tomorrow is to all of the tree diagram questions
